  Art

Grades K - 2, Ms. Brietske (breanna.brietske@greatheartswesternhills.org)

Next week in kindergarten, we will be reading Polar Bear Morning and painting gray polar bears! Students will learn how to make gray paint by mixing white and black!

Next week in 1st grade, we will be making texture pumpkins with clay! Students will use the texture from the bottom of their shoes to add texture to their pumpkin!

Next week in 2nd grade, we will be exploring charcoal and adding value using value scales!

Grades 3 - 5, Mrs. Looney (annie.looney@greatheartswesternhills.org)

3rd grade will meet John James Audobon, and look at pictures of his artwork, or you could say... "bird"work. We will begin a project which involves replicating his birds while exploring texture.

4th grade will be doing projects exploring value scales and shadings forms.

Next week, 5th grade will be working on their texture grid.

 Music

Grades K - 2, Ms. Burciaga (kiana.burciaga@greatheartswesternhills.org)

November in the K-2 Music Room means... practice, practice... and more practice!

Scholars have been diligently memorizing their riser placement, concert etiquette procedures, and their Winter Concert music. This is not an easy feat - however, they continue to persevere and try their best in each class. I am so proud of our mighty, musical Spartans!

Despite all of the hard work happening in Music, we still know how to have fun! See below...

Grades 3 - 5, Ms. Smith (stephanie.smith@greatheartswesternhills.org)

Hello Spartans!

I want to congratulate everyone on the amazing auditions last week! 3rd and 5th grade scholars sang in front of the entire class with beautiful intonation and timbre.

Next week, I will announce the scholars that have been selected for their special role. We will also be getting on the risers to practice for our concert. Everyone should have already received their lyric sheets. Please help your scholars make sure every song is memorized by the concert.

I will be sending out practice recordings next week.

Happy Practicing!

Spanish

Grades K - 2, Mrs. Huerta (elidia.huerta@greatheartswesternhills.org)

Hello Spartans!

This week in Spanish was all about our imaginary trip to Mexico. We reviewed the relationship between the practices, products, and perspectives of the Mexican culture. Scholars learned about the Mexico flag and the day of the Mexican flag. Next week in Spanish, we will be learning about El Dia de los Muertos, a culture celebration in Mexico.

Grades 3 - 5, Ms. Castro (e.gonzalezcastro@greatheartswesternhills.org)

Hello Spartans,

This week our students took an imaginary trip to Mexico. They learned about the culture and important facts about Mexico. The students were curious, asking many questions about Mexico!

Next week, we will continue learning about the Mexican culture and about the Day of the Dead Mexican celebration (Dia de los Muertos). We will also have a review on numbers.

We are looking forward to a good Spanish learning experience!
