We shared about different activities that can be done during winter. In class we read the story Una Senora con frio se trago un poco de nieve! By Lucille Colandro. Next week scholars will be learning about winter clothing (la ropa de Invierno).

Then we have a mimic game, the students have fun acting out the verbs they learned. Next week our scholars will have a quiz, they have this information written in their agenda and on the board of their own classroom. Next week the students will  continue practicing their verbs before their quiz.

Hello Spartans!

Grades 3 - 5, Coach Manta (mihai.manta@greatheartstxschools.org)

Hello Spartans,

These next weeks we will start a new unit : Team Handball. I am so excited about Handball. This is one of the fastest growing sport in America. Handball appears that it originated around the turn of the century in several European countries as different variations of the same sport. In Denmark, a team handball program was started in 1898 by Halger Nelson. In Czechoslovakia in 1892 a similar game, known as “Hazena”, was played on the soccer field.

The sport was reportedly brought here by a new immigrant.

The game is played with 7 players on each team. In 1936 Team handball was established as an Olympic sport.

This week our scholars will learn dribbling a handball.
