Another week down, Spartan Singers! I have been incredibly proud to see Kindergarteners, 1st Graders, and 2nd Graders putting their all into our short class rehearsals. Continue to use your practice recordings to memorize the lyrics and melodies.

Families, please remind your scholar(s) to use the virtue of wisdom while we're on our rehearsal risers. Safety reminders, like the ones shared in class, will keep your scholar and their classmates safe in Music Class, as well as on concert night!

- Feet are flat.
- Hug your dot!

- Hands to self.

- Eyes forward.

🥳 Congratulations to all of Kindergarten and 2nd Grade for sharing their virtues in Music. We've had such fun celebrations because of the hard work done! Keep up the great work.

🥳 1st Grade - your classes are SO close to reaching a celebration. Let's do this!

Hello, Spartans!

Can you believe we are already approaching the end of 2024? The first semester has surely been a great one for scholars in 3rd-5th grade as they have developed their musical knowledge, skills, and techniques!

As we close out the year, we will continue to practice and refine our concert music as we get closer and closer to the Winter Concert! Next week, scholars will also share their knowledge of semester 1 music concepts with a review survey and will finish the week with some instrument play-alongs to the piece Trepak from the Nutcracker and Offenbach’s famous piece Can Can.

Using the links below, please find the lyrics for each grade and recordings of our concert songs. Click on your scholar’s grade to be redirected to a page that will display the songs. Please encourage your scholars to review the songs over break so we can be ready to jump back into singing when we return from break!

K - 2 SPANISH

Mrs. Huerta - elidia.huerta@greatheartstxschools.org

Hola Spartans!

This week in Spanish class we had a fantastic time learning about the classic story El Hombre de Pan de Jengibre (The Gingerbread Man) The lesson was filled with a lot of repetition to spark literacy, and critical thinking. Here's a quick overview of what scholars worked in class.

Story Time: We read El Hombre de Pan de Jengibre (The Gingerbread Man) which helped build listening skills, comprehension, and understanding of sequence. The children were encouraged to recall key events in the story.

In Second grade, the scholars wrote their own versions of the story, incorporating their ideas for new characters or adventures for the Gingerbread Man. Kinder and First grade scholars created their own gingerbread men using colors, and fine motor skills through cutting and gluing.

3 - 5 SPANISH

Mrs. Gallardo - michelle.gallardo@greatheartstxschools.org

Hola Spartans!

This week in Spanish class, students explore the theme “Mi familia y celebraciones” with a focus on birthdays (¡Feliz Cumpleanos!). They learned how to name family members in Spanish, created their own family trees, and discussed special celebrations we enjoyed with our families, such as birthdays.

To reinforce their learning, students were quizzed on their knowledge on Day 2 based on previous lessons like Colombia, family vocabulary (Mi Familia), and basic math (suma y resta). The activities were engaging and fun, especially as students expressed their creativity by designing their own birthday cards.

Next week, we will embark on a journey to discover Peru! Students will explore its traditions, customs, cuisine, language, and much more. We are excited to dive into this new cultural adventure!
